Do you own a lovely DSLR camera that you mostly use in Auto Mode?
Are you confused by all the settings and a little disappointed with your pictures?
At the end of this two part workshop you will have the knowledge to shoot in manual if you choose to and an understanding of when and why you might choose to use a different mode. We will cover a variety of topics over the two sessions including:
- Why you can expect limited results in Auto but when its OK to use it.
- Taking control of focusing.
- How choosing your aperture affects your images.
- How shutter speeds affect your images.
- The relationship between the three elements of the exposure triangle.
- How your camera exposes an image and how to over ride the exposure.
- How to shoot in manual mode but why it’s not essential.
This is very much a hands on workshop, you will be practising each element as its explained and with two photographers who share a similar approach to photography. Everyone will receive individual assistance as needed.

The workshops are based on Janet Broughtons popular online beginners photography course and are being run by myself and Janet in Horwich.
Whilst we have a very different style of photography we share the same philosophy and approach to photography and value the aesthetics of the final image above the need for technical perfection. We will not baffle you with equipment and technology. Neither of us will we tell you that there is only one correct approach, instead we will help you to discover the settings that suit your way of working and the subject you want to photograph.
Don’t forget there are just TEN SPACES for the workshop on the 9th and 16th November,
